UPDATE: No residents will be forced to annex. If they want safe clean city water and safe sanitary sewer, they can connect and annex. Otherwise, they don't. In any event, they will get fire hydrants at no cost. So what's the problem?
05-29-07 - I faxed Illinois State Rep. Jim Durkin and State Sen. Christine Radogno urging their support for the following proposed legislation:
SB 1007: This bill would prohibit the manufacture, sale, purchase, and possession of any large capacity ammunition feeding device, like the one purportedly used in the Virginia Tech shootings.
SB 940: This bill would require Illinois hospitals and mental health facilities to supply records to the Illinois State Police and would require the state to submit records to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
HB 758: This bill would require background checks on private handgun transfers and close the last loophole in obtaining a handgun. Background checks are only required now if you purchase a handgun at a gun shop and gun show.
HB 1696: This bill would require FOID card holders to report the loss or theft of their firearms to law enforcement.
05-19-07 - My family and I participated in the "Motion Explosion" (kite flying, touch-a truck, bike fest) at Cypress Cove sponsored by the Woodridge Park District.
05-18-07 - I asked for a progress report on activating education Channel 16 or, as an alternative, allowing District 99 access to Woodridge Channel 6 for live programming, such as a 24-hour telethon. Click here for a newspaper article.

05-18-07 - I asked what the Woodridge Police Department has done to help curb the problems of teen drinking. Click here for newspaper articles. 05-15-07 - I asked the Village for an update on the sound wall for the north side of I-55.
UPDATE: Woodridge had 99 DUI arrests in 2006.
05-10-07 - A mosquito infected with West Nile was found in Woodridge (technically unincorporated DuPage County). Click here for a newspaper article. I inquired if the Village was going to issue a press release with that information, along with recognition and prevention tips.
UPDATE: The Village is starting their annual information campaign and mosquito abatement program.

05-05-07 - My wife was given an Award of Commendation from the Darien-Woodridge Fire Department for alerting them to a house fire which prevented major fire loss.
05-03-07 - I asked for clarification on a newspaper article wherein Mayor Murphy was quoted that Woodridge would not pursue additional smoking regulations (outdoor dining, miniature golf courses, outdoor events). See more information on my Smoke-Free Woodridge page.
UPDATE: The Mayor will check with surrounding communities to see if any other town is going to propose stricter regulations.
